Edgemere Engages Community with Free Film Festival

Save the date for the 2nd Annual Edgemere Film Fest! In partnership with the Dallas International Film Festival, Edgemere is planning for the next Edgemere Film Fest to open on Friday, October 23, 2026, connecting residents with the surrounding community by offering free admission once again.

Last fall’s first-ever Edgemere Film Fest featured movie screenings for a trio of great Texas stories, red carpet photos, music and cocktails at Edgemere’s state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center. Audiences of all ages were invited to gather to appreciate the timeless value of senior voices in cinema and the enduring power of film to challenge how we view growing older.

The films were followed by filmmaker Q&A moderated by James Faust, Artistic Director of the Dallas International Film Festival and Jeff Amann, COO and President of Certus Living.

“We believe that aging is not an epilogue. It’s a vital and rich chapter worthy of artistic exploration and celebration,” said Amann. “The Edgemere Film Fest celebrates aging as a vibrant, relevant and evolving experience – both on screen and in real life.”

Edgemere Film Fest kicked off with the “The Old Man & The Gun” starring Robert Redford, Casey Affleck and Sissy Spacek. Conversation followed with movie producer James M. Johnston. Then “12 Mighty Orphans” hit the big screen starring Luke Wilson, Vinessa Shaw, Wayne Knight and Martin Sheen followed by Q&A with producer Houston Hill. Finally, audiences enjoyed “The Alamo” starring Dennis Quaid, Billy Bob Thornton, Patrick Wilson and Jason Patric followed by Q&A with film historian and cast member Gordon K. Smith.
