Residents and team members of Edgemere senior living community came together Monday, June 3 to show support, solidarity, and inspiration for cancer survivors on National Cancer Survivors Day. In honor of the occasion, the community partnered with A Model Patient to put together gift bags for cancer patients receiving treatment at local hospitals.
National Cancer Survivors Day recognizes those who have survived and those who have been recently diagnosed. It is an annual Celebration of Life held in hundreds of communities and a service of The National Cancer Survivors Day Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit organization. The day is marked by community outreach and gatherings of support for families across the country.
Residents and team members who participated in the gift bag project are cancer survivors themselves and well-connected to the patient experience. The collaboration offered them a unique and meaningful opportunity to raise awareness for both survivors and those fighting the disease.
