“One-size-fits-all” memory care is a thing of the past as Edgemere senior living community in Dallas launches a 3,441-square-foot communal space for memory care surrounded by individualized activity areas based on residents’ day-to-day abilities, social preferences, moods and cognitive needs.
Called “La Piazza,” the innovative approach was unveiled at The Plaza at Edgemere this month, one year after Certus Living, a national third-party developer and operator of senior living communities, announced its plans for memory care programming at Edgemere that will be the blueprint for research-based care across the country.
“For those experiencing Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, we know that no two journeys – or even days – are alike,” says Certus Living’s Memory Care Program Director Angela Kotschi. “At La Piazza, your loved one will be cherished and respected for who they are. They’ll be nurtured, safe and comfortable, while retaining their dignity.”
The impressively designed “La Piazza” is a community space for all memory care residents who choose to engage there, as well as a bridge connecting residents in assisted living and memory care who are more socially engaged, cognitively active and enjoy leadership opportunities.
