First Woman Sommelier in Texas Presents Wine Tasting to Fellow Residents of Edgemere Senior Living

Rebecca Murphy is now a resident of Edgemere senior living community in Preston Hollow, and she recently shared her wine expertise (including as a professional wine judge) at a tasting with several different winter-to-spring wines paired with delectable appetizers from Executive Chef Jamaal Baty.   • 40+ year wine professional who was the first woman sommelier in Texas; University of Texas at Arlington graduate
  • Contributed to The Oxford Companion to Wine and the sixth edition of The World Atlas of Wine
  • Created the Dallas Morning News Wine Competition, now the TexSom International Wine Awards. She has also contributed to the creation of the Lone Star State Wine Competition and Sunset International Wine Competition
  • Former executive director of the American Wine Alliance for Research and Education, a non-profit org dedicated to educating health care professionals about the risks and benefits of moderate alcohol consumption 
  • Weekly contributor to Wine Review Online and regular judge for Critic’s Challenge and International Wine Challenge
