Dr. Kim Fellman

Plaza Medical Director - Specialty: General Medicine

Kim Fellman, MD is from Atlanta, Georgia. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Emory University in 2000.  She then obtained a Certificate of Public Health from Harvard University School of Public Health before medical school.  She graduated from Tufts University School of Medicine in 2007 and completed her internal medicine residency in Birmingham, Alabama at the Baptist Health System in 2010.  After completing residency, she and her husband moved to Dallas, Texas, where they now reside with two beautiful children.   Dr. Fellman is a board certified internist as well as a board certified medical director.  She has been an attending physician at Medical City Dallas Hospital since 2011 and at Plaza of Edgemere Rehab since 2014. She has also served as Medical Director at the Plaza of Edgemere since 2014.

 

Dr. Manu Gupta

Specialty: Attending Physician

Dr. Manu Gupta completed her internship at the nation’s first hospital, Pennsylvania hospital, University of Pennsylvania, followed by residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia in 2003. After residency she was appointed Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehab and University Pain Center at School of Osteopathic Medicine, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She served as the Pain Center’s EMG lab director as well as provided PMR and pain management consult service to the affiliated acute care hospital and skilled nursing facilities in that role. She moved to Dallas in 2010 and since then has been providing post-acute care and pain management services in skilled nursing facilities across the metroplex. She has been a consulting physician at the Plaza at Edgemere since 2021. She is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Muhammed Ali Khan

Specialty: Infectious Disease

Dr. Khan is a distinguished infectious disease specialist with over three decades of expertise. As an esteemed faculty member at Presbyterian Hospital and Select Specialty Hospital in Dallas, Texas, Dr. Khan’s commitment to excellence in patient care is unwavering. Board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in infectious diseases and a proud member of the American College of Physicians, he merges compassion with cutting-edge medical knowledge. Outside the clinical realm, Dr. Khan finds solace in traveling and fishing, indulging his spirit for exploration and relaxation.

Julie Lyons, FNP

Specialty: Nurse Practitioner Long Term Care

 Julie A. Lyons, APRN, FNP, is an independent Family Nurse Practitioner, who has been practicing in Long Term Care for 25 years and has been caring for the residents of The Plaza of Edgemere for the last three years. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Science Degree from Texas Woman’s University in Dallas.  She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

As a Registered Nurse, Mrs. Lyons worked in the Trauma Department at Parkland Hospital for 5 years.  After earning her Master’s degree, Mrs. Lyons had faculty appointments in the College of Nursing at Tarleton State University and Texas Woman’s University.  

Mrs. Lyons is an active member of both the state and local Nurse Practitioner associations. She currently resides in the Dallas Area with her husband and two children.  She is an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and generously gives of her time and talents to her community.  

She has experienced the vitality and vibrancy of the residents at The Plaza of Edgemere firsthand and works hard to improve the quality of life for all of her patients.

Dr. Phuong Trinh

Specialty: Wound Care

Dr. Phuong Trinh graduated from Texas Tech University and The University of Texas at Tyler/Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center. She is an Acute Physician and Board Certified Doctor whose primary
professional focus is providing medical care to patients residing in Rehabilitation, Skilled Nursing, Long Term Care or Assisted Living Facilities. Dr. Trinh works together with the rest of residents’ health care teams to provide safe, quality and compassionate care every day. Dr. Phuong Trinh hobbies include trying new cuisines and traveling.

Dr. Matt Pompeo

Specialty: Wound Care

Dr. Matthew Pompeo is a General Surgeon who specializes in taking care of hard-to-heal wounds. He has been practicing in the Dallas area for almost 30 years. He believes wound care is tremendously important and tries to get our health care systems to do their utmost to support these often fragile and complex patients.
Dr. Pompeo graduated with honors from the University of Miami School of Medicine in Miami, FL, completed his residency and fellowship at the University of Texas Southwest Medical Center, and has worked in Dallas at Presbyterian Wound Center since; currently holding the position of Medical Director. Dr. Pompeo is highly regarded in the field and has been published numerous times for his research on wound care.

 

Dr. Roper

Specialty: Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Roper is a licensed Clinical Psychologist who is the Chief Clinical Psychologist and Co-Founder of Mind Body Wellness, P.C. She earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Psychology and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from American Psychological Association accredited universities. She focused her training during her Post-Doctoral Residency on clinical psychology, pain management, biofeedback and neuropsychological evaluations.

Dr. Roper has been providing psychological services in the Dallas area since 1991. She has worked for years to improve the quality of life for countless adults in medical settings and their families. In addition to her direct medical psychology practice, she has earned the respect of many physicians and health care
providers, developing trainings for families, clinicians, and staff members of rehabilitation and long-term care facilities. She is co-author and developer of the PAR-published GRRAS instruments, lead author of the Mind Body Wellness Handbook of Geriatric Psychological Assessment and Treatment, Mind Body Wellness Handbook of Geriatric Psychological Assessment and Treatment Second Edition, and multiple peer review journals and book chapters.

Dorcas Onadeko, PMHNP-BC

Specialty: Psychiatric Mental Health

Dorcas Onadeko, PMHNP-BC has been in the mental health field for over 17 years with experience ranging from inpatient psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, long term care and outpatient mental health care. Dorcas has been caring for the residents of The Plaza at Edgemere since 2017. She has advanced degree in psychiatric mental health nursing from The University of Texas at Arlington and is board certified as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with The American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Dorcas has extensive experience in adult mental health, women’s mental health and geriatric mental health. Dorcas has also attended the Prestigious Psychopharmacology Master Class seminar as well as Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders seminar at Harvard Medical School. She is also an Adjunct clinical instructor at University of Texas at Arlington and has served as a preceptor for several nurse practitioner students from The George Washington University, Walden University, Rocky Mountain University, Herzing University, Brandman University, Midwestern University, Regis University, and many more.

Dorcas serves in her faith community as the director of one of the largest State Government approved food distribution centers in Dallas County which caters to people of all races, ethnicity, and nationality. The program caters for the local community through programs such as bi-monthly food distribution in conjunction with the North Texas Food Bank, and Health and wellness programs.

Dr. Justin Cardenas

Specialty: orthopedics

Dr. Justin Cardenas is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic hip and knee surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement procedures.

A Dallas native, Dr. Cardenas attended Texas A&M University in College Station, where he received his undergraduate in Biomedical Sciences. He went on to attend medical school at Baylor College of Medicine, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree and was elected as the medical school class president. He stayed at Baylor College of Medicine to complete his orthopaedic surgery residency. Dr. Cardenas then returned to Dallas as he committed to a year as the inaugural fellow in hip and knee reconstruction at Carrell Clinic and has joined their clinic after fellowship.

Dr. Cardenas is a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Texas Orthopaedic Association. His clinical specialty is in reconstructive surgery to alleviate hip and knee pain and restore function. He prioritizes a conservative approach and turns to surgical methods only when necessary and enjoys the opportunity to connect with his patients on an individual level to make a lasting impact on their lives through treatment.
